Dr Katherine Zhu is a specialist colorectal and general surgeon, offering expertise in conditions of the bowel (colon and rectum).  Dr Zhu also treats anorectal conditions and general surgical conditions (including hernia and gallbladder surgery). 

Dr Zhu is a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia & New Zealand (CSSANZ).  Dr Zhu has a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with honours from the University of New South Wales.  After being awarded Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Dr Zhu undertook post-fellowship sub-specialist training in colorectal surgery at Wollongong Hospital.  Subsequently, Dr Zhu trained under the CSSANZ at The Alfred Hospital Melbourne and Concord General & Repatriation Hospital. 

Dr Zhu has expertise in the management of all aspects of colorectal surgery, as well as complex minimally invasive surgical techniques.  Dr Zhu also performs diagnostic and interventional gastroscopy and colonoscopy.  She is accredited by the Gastroenterological Society of Australia.

Academically, Dr Zhu has a Masters of Colorectal Surgery from the University of Sydney, in association with the Institute of Academic Surgery at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.  In addition to multiple scientific publications and international presentations, Dr Zhu is a reviewer for the Australia & New Zealand Journal of Surgery.  Dr Zhu is on the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons trainee selection panel.
